Heavy rains this winter brought death and destruction to California. But while one hand takes away, another hand sometimes gives bounty. This winter has given us the heaviest growth of mushrooms and fungie. The normally desolate Death Valley has becomes a riot of color with the most wildflowers seen there in one hundred years. On this page we give some photos of the mushrooms that have grown at Rivenrock this winter. We don't know the names or uses of these plants, but the anthem by Jefferson Starship is what often runs through my mind when looking at mushrooms, it seemed to fit the somber mood of overcast skies and a vague memory of and longing for sunny days.
