Return to Nipomo California

Here are some of the local web pages that I like, some are personal friends of ours.

The Dana Adobe Nipomo Amigos website is the official page of the Historic Dana Adobe.
Their website has some Nipomo history, and a very extensive bit of info on the adobe.

Imago Articulus has some of the nicest photos of the California 'Central Coast' that I've seen on the web. The attention given to light and shadow and the varied colors present in our area in the form of both natural structures and man-made architecture is very pleasing to the eye. Imago Articulus seems to capture much of the essence of the 'Middle Kingdom' and shows to the world 'the Jewel' that is the crowning piece of our heritage.

Nipomo Corner has a very nice list of links relating to Nipomo.

NORA (Nipomo Off-leash Recreational Area, Inc.) Take advantage of Nipomo's opportunity to recreate off-leash with our dogs and each other in a safe, secure environment. NORA is committed to creating a fenced section of the Nipomo Park where dogs and their people will be able to roam and play together in a confined leash-free environment, and the Park Rangers will not have to be chasing people and their dogs all over trying to get the dogs leashed. This is a good idea for people and their pets in this town. It will likely become well known to travelers going up or down the coast on Hwy. 101. They might be likely to stop by for a bit of time out of the car while traveling with their dogs. This would bring helpful revenue to the community by encouraging people to stop in Nipomo and eat in our restaurants and cafes, and buy gasoline and other supplies from our stations and shops.

The Friends of the Nipomo Library is from the Friends of the Nipomo Library..

Val and Al. great music!

These folks have an extremely proficient band, they are friends and neighbors of ours. Besides being fine neigbors they are one of the best bands that I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Valerie has such a fine voice and sounds just like Janis Joplin. People often mention this when she sings, so it is not just me thinking this. And Al is a great guitarist who is more than capable on many types of string and keyboard instruments, as well as being comfortable with many styles of music. They have a good drummer, and a fine jazz player who helps them out on occasion. Go to The Blues Doctors. Their web page has audio to listen to portions of their songs from their new CD.

This fellow is a fine example of the tech abilities available in this hamlet, for an intriguing look into the music equipment industry it is fun to go to L.R.Baggs guitars and equipment.

In 1923 Cecille B. DeMille filmed his epic masterpiece The Ten Commandments in the dunes outside Nipomo. When filming was done the giant paper-mache sphinxes and other movie sets were bulldozed into the sands. Now there is a recovery effort underway to expose and share with the world this piece of movie history.

Until recently Nipomo students had to travel to Arroyo Grande (a fine nice town north of here) to go to high school. But now we have our own high school being built here. To see the web page about this new school go to Nipomo High School

This site is from a local restaurant I have never been to, but since we don't eat out at all that is not surprising. The place has a really good reputation for good fun and good food, and I really like the web site, so I should include them in the links page. Tortilla Flats

Here is a map of Nipomo For a nice place to have a private party, wedding etc. I cannot more highly recommend anyplace but the historic Kaleidoscope Inn in Nipomo. This beautiful home has a pretty garden that was very enchanting when I visited for a friends' wedding. View photos of this Victorian home on their site.
