ART ALLEY
The alley between the 100 blocks of South H and
South I street
have been transformed into an outdoor gallery of art with varied subject matter.
Many of these murals were previously displayed as Community Canvases,
a display area at chestnut and H street where mini-murals are displayed on a rotating
basis.
These works represent many local non-profit and community groups.
LAUGHING FACES (1994)
This valley has a long and varied
history of animal husbandry and country life.
Here we see an example of how the animals of the valley are often anthromorphised.
Although the main agricultural activities center around plant crops,
there is some really good beef that comes from this valley,
and a massive chicken egg farm in the next valley.
Artists: LOVARC
This mural illustrates some of the
wild animals and plants that exist
in the wilderness and wild lands around the town of Lompoc.
Yes folks, we really do have purple
cows in this valley.
They have been commonly seen on Friday nights since the Temperance colony ended.
They are often found in the company of pink elephants.
FESTIVAL THEME
Depicted is an old-time carousel.
We have a flower festival every year, and the carnival machines come,
with their hawkers, front men, machines, roller coasters, whirli-gigs and all the 'games
of skill'.
Yeah it's all pretty fun, and a good time for the locals to see old friends who live away
and only come back for the festival every year.
