This is the nopal cactus we promote as the epitome of exotic raw food eating for man or beast.
It is easy to prepare for the table, has reputed beneficial properties, and is great cooked or raw.

Hot off the Press!!
Rivenrock Gardens Organic Edible Cactus is again being harvested and sold.
We are now offering our Rivenrock Cactus in both the grade 'B', and Grade 'A'
Grade B is more likely to have bends and environmental damage such as bug bites
(we are an organic farm after all).
The Grade 'A' cactus is the nicest, prettiest, and straightest leaves we can find in our terraced cactus field.
If you are a chef or gourmand, you might prefer the Grade 'A' nopal (cactus leaf).
If you are not so concerned with an exquisite presentation, if a small split in the nopal leaf,
or some bites taken by a bug are OK with you, then grade 'B' edible cactus will be fine.
We are also packing both five pound, nine pound, and eighteen pound lots.
All are shipped by USPS Priority Mail, usually within twelve hours of picking.
We use the USPS Priority Mail 'Flat-Rate' packages for shipping.
The regular Flat rate box holds six pounds easily, so we sell the five pound box in that.
The Large Flat-Rate Box holds ten and a half to eleven pounds, so we sell it as nine pounds.
This table is for the Nopalea grande edible cactus (nopal) leaves we grow and sell.

Opuntia ficus-indica

This is an edible cactus (nopal) plant that is a local favorite. These plants are the common type in this area, and generally preferred by the local folks compared to our Nopalea grande sold above which is far more popular on the internet (due to it's VERY low spine count).

Here are Opuntia ficus-indica leaves
packed into their USPS Priority box.
You can see the leaves are just under one foot long.
These are some really nice nopal leaves.

You can see the spines in the photo to the right.
These can be cut off with a sharp knife, it requires a bit of finesse with the knife, but is easily learned.
These are also really fine leaves to feed to tortoises. Some people tell us their tortoises prefer these leaves to the Nopalea grande.
These leaves will only be available through May or so. The plants of this type put their leaves out in 'flushes' two or three times a year.
Each flush gives us fresh leaves for a month or so.

We have the Opuntia ficus-indica in both five pound and ten pound lot sizes.
Our shipping is by USPS Priority mail, shipped in Flat-Rate boxes.
The leaves are right around the one foot-long range.

Five pounds of Opuntia ficus-india... $28
shipped by USPS Priority Mail...USA only

Ten pounds of Opuntia ficus-india... $45
shipped by USPS Priority Mail... USA only
